According to the court, the former Crédit Suisse executive, a declared candidate for the 2025 presidential election, did not meet the nationality requirements at the time of his registration in 2022.
The judge of the Plateau Court of First Instance in Abidjan ordered the removal of Tidjane Thiam from the electoral roll on the grounds that the opposition leader had lost his Ivorian nationality upon acquiring French nationality, which, according to the court, would invalidate his registration on the electoral roll.
